E36 Drivers Window Off Track
Starting this thread after the discussion on 'spring thing' thread. Please contribute with your year and model of X3 and the issues you have encountered so far.
One off issues, like PPXYZ's unusual series of troubles, sorry about that, but please keep it off this thread. Please also try to provide the fix if you know. The idea is to build this thread as a buying guide for future X3 buyers. I'll go first.
Model: 2005 3.0i. Stuck and broken sunroof visor. Sunroof cassette replaced under warranty. Needed reprogramming for comfort position. Broken rear coil springs. Replaced under CPO warranty.
Dealer estimate ~1100, OEM parts available online for 150-200. Car holding lower gear too long on inclines. Transmission software upgraded.
Hey all, last night I heard something crack or snap in my drivers side door when I was rolling up the window, and the glass just fell off the track. Now it's sitting in the door off balance and the rear of the glass visible above the door line, while the rest is hidden below the door card. Any tutorials online that tell.
TSB is out for it. Regular wear. Brakes+rotor replaced at 75k kms. Fluid changes in 2 years. Rattle from roofliner, hooks had come lose.
Easy DIY fix. Leatherette cracking on driver side. Replaced under warranty. False passenger airbag light. There is a recall, and warranty on passenger seat is extended for 10 years.
Fogware Digital Giggles N on this page. Replaced under warranty. Model: 2004 2.5i 30K miles 1.
No symptoms - Bremi ignition coils replaced with Bosch at 10K miles under S.I.B. 12 81 05 voluntary recall 2. Turn signal switch broken internally on one side. Replaced at 17K miles 3.
Door glass rattling when fully closed. Seals and flocking lubed at 17K miles 4.
Business CD display died - replaced at 21K miles 5. Rare occasional electronic gremlins - dash lights go out momentarily.
False passenger airbag light. Sensor replaced under warranty after first 'rework' failed at 28K miles. 2005 X3 3.0I 122,000 miles I know this thread is pretty old. Came upon it while I was searching on google and I'd like to share my experience.
Just got the car a month ago through private party. Issues I have encountered since then: 1. Transponder key won't work(system glitch) 2.
Left mirror won't tilt when in reverse, only the right one does 3. Brake pad sensor replaced 4. Takes a few cranks to start sometimes.
Starter maybe? Sunroof cassette is shot. Will open but won't close. Clear silicone glue was my solution since the glass didn't close all the way anymore 6. Water leaking through sunroof.
